The Pete Hanna Center at Samford University, which we designed and constructed in 2007, has hosted many interesting events – but none quite like the men’s basketball team’s official signing of Nathaniel “Biggie” Henderson, a 7-year-old diagnosed with CLOVES syndrome. Henderson will be the 17th member of the 2013-14 Bulldog squad. The University joined efforts with Team Impact, a nonprofit organization that connects children with life threatening illnesses to college athletic teams. In the organization’s words, they envision a future where the lives of children facing the hardships associated with adverse issues and events will have access to expanded team-based support networks in order to significantly enhance their quality of life and to fill their lives with more love and laughter.
