Samford University

In the 7 years since Stanmar, Inc. completed the facility, The Pete Hanna Center has truly become a home for all 17 varsity sports and their 350 student-athletes regardless of whether their team competes in the Corts Arena or not. The Hanna Center has provided a central location for them to access all of the essential support services that they need, including academic support, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, and administration which helps them manage the demands of being  Division I student-athletes.

Mr. Michael McGreevey, Assistant Director of Athletics, Samford University

Overview

When we were hired to design and build the Pete Hanna Center, it was clear the University envisioned the facility would become the centerpiece of student life and athletics on campus. The massive facility needed to handle a central site with a 40 foot grade change and be visually appealing on all sides, all while embrace the existing Georgian Architectural Style. In conjunction with these factors, our team needed to develop a program layout that brought together the University’s sports teams and contained fitness space for the general student population. Completed in 2007, the Pete Hanna Center has since hosted championship games, concerts, graduations, and weddings, and we look forward to what events take place in the Center in years to come.
